Santa Claus Visits Maple Ridge
  Dated : 22.12.2010

Lincoln, IL - Maple Ridge Care Centre held it's annual Christmas Party for the residents and their families on Wednesday, December 22nd.  The party, hosted by Santa Claus himself, began shortly after dinner and the dietary staff prepared a delicious dessert buffet with a wide array of treats to choose from.  There were cherry cheesecakes, caramel-apple pastries, cream puffs and frosted sugar cookies that one resident claimed were "...as big as our faces!"  There was also a sherbet punch which was very popular.
Throughout the evening, Santa passed out gift bags to each of the residents while Dixie Percival played Christmas songs on the piano. (Dixie is the daughter of Maple Ridge resident, Harold Billington).  The gift bags were filled with Christmas ornaments, puzzle books, colognes, perfumes, lotions and other toiletries. Afterward, they all joined in a sing along of some classic Christmas carols.  "Everyone had a great time" said Catrina Whitney, "The residents really enjoyed the opportunity to visit with their families."
Many of the residents and their families thanked the staff personally when the party was ending. Resident, George Moss, said "People don't realize how much effort goes into events like this.  Thank you! You guys did a great job!" Margaret Gosser added, "The party was so wonderful!"
