Lincoln, IL - Maple Ridge Care Centre welcomed trick or treaters last Thursday, October 28th. From 4:00-5:00pm, children visited Maple Ridge and paraded around the dining room, showing off their costumes to the residents. They also went door to door at the senior living apartments located on the grounds. When they were finished, each child was given an additional bag filled with treats. Catrina Whitney, Assistant Administrator , said "The residents really look forward to the kids visiting each Halloween. Almost everyone has fond memories of trick or treating and we like to keep that tradition going."
Afterward, many of the children and their families attended the Halloween FunFest at Lincoln Park District. The event was free to all and offered games, treats and even a costume contest for the kids. Maple Ridge Care Centre had their own booth, "Maple Ridge's Mystery Boxes." Each box was labeled with a "creepy" item, such as cooked spaghetti (Brains), marshmallows in oil (Intestines), slivered almonds (Witches nails), etc... and the children would stick their hands in the boxes without peeking. Some brave adults even placed their hands inside. The boxes were a big hit with the kids and their parents.
Thanks to everyone who visited Maple Ridge as well as the FunFest. We hope you all had a scary good time.
